Today I fully refurbished an Australian 60GB CECH-C02 and did the FRANKENSTEIN mod with a 40nm RSX.

First up I had to remove the original 90nm RSX,clean the board up and do a couple of resistor modifications for the system to accept the new rogue RSX

I also had to change a mosfet/regulator so that the new 40nm RSX runs with the required 0.95v rather than the 1.2v that the 90nm runs on.

Once all the required modifications are carried out,I can go ahead and install the new 40nm

I also go ahead and fully refurbish the console and replace the misc power rail filtering caps that fail commonly. Replace the NEC-Tokin capacitors with Tantalum capacitors and delid the CELL and RSX to reapply new thermal paste.

I also go ahead and swap out the PSU with a cooler running APS-231

Once all of this work is carried out the console will last for many many years to come.

This refurb and mod is the best option for any backwards compatible PS3
