PS3 60GB Backwards Compatible Refurb
I had the pleasure of refurbishing a customers beloved 60GB PS3 which had the YLOD
The initial problem was a blown F6001 fuse and 2 shorted caps C6019/6020 on the 1.7v Misc power rail.
Here is a pic of the small SMD caps that commonly fail and cause the fuse to blow. I replace both the Misc power rail caps at the same time to prevent any more issues with them
After repairing the console I spoke with my client and we went ahead with the full refurb to replace all of the known common components that cause the YLOD
First I started with a reball of the RSX
Once reballed I reinstalled the RSX
This ensures the console runs smooth and quiet for years to come
Next step in the refurb process is to replace the NEC-Tokin capacitors with new Tantalum caps
All in all a great refurb once again,a working console and a happy customer
Job done!

This is our machine. We had a significant number of photos on this console that were irreplacable. We cannot believe the amount of work that has been done to get our photos back and have the console working again. I cannot thank ACE console repairs enough for the work done and a true pleasure to deal with.
