Xbox's due to their age and moreso their living environment tend to get what they call "trace rot". This is 1 or more copper lines/traces on the motherboard deteriorate and corrode and this causes the track/trace/line not to be able to function and carry data from point A to point B,these can be repaired with "jumpers", jumper wires between point A & B to repair the line.

A common issue with the Original Xbox is the capacitors on the CPU power rail.
