RARE Halo 3 Special Edition Xbox 360 Repair

I had an Xbox 360 Halo 3 Special Edition come in today. It had the RROD with a secondary error code of 0110. This is usually related to the GPU needing a reball. After opening the console I found that the previous owner had applied the temporary fix of the “X Clamp Fix”.

The X clamp fix is a temporary backyard fix for the RROD on a 360. Essentially it really needs the GPU reballed. I went ahead and reballed the GPU

The obvious sign the fix had been applied,it is missing the stock screws that mount to the heatsink from underneath

After removing the GPU I went ahead anf reballed it

Once reballed it was time to reflow it back to the board and test it

I also repaired the dodgy xclamp fix with the correct components,now that it has had a proper repair the standard components that mount the heatsinks to the board is all that is required
