A common component in PS3’s that causes the YLOD is the NEC-Tokin capacitors on the RSX and the CELL.These can be replaced with tantalum capacitors and revive the console back to working condition.This is just one of the repairs we carry out.There are many other reasons for the YLOD,such as power rail components failing and the RSX failing.

From my experience over the past 18 odd years in console repairs,there are many reasons PS3’s fail with the YLOD.
