PS3 Syscon logging allows you to see exactly what is wrong with the system and what area or component is causing the YLOD,stopping the console from booting. We received a 60GB Backwards Compatible for repair that has the YLOD. We accessed the errorlog of the Syscon to pinpoint the cause. 3034/4002 and 2120 together confirm the RSX needs reballing or replacing. The console was a “ virgin” – unopened and untampered with.

We strip the console down to the point where we can solder onto the Syscon points to read the log.

Once setup we can connect to the computer and adjust the eeprom with commands to allow us to access the error log. We use Ubuntu to diagnose the system with special commands with a python script.

This particular unit shows us the error log as there is an issue with the RSX and its attachment to the motherboard. We then lift the RSX to reball it.

Once lifted we can clean up the pads on the RSX and the motherboard then reball the RSX ready to flow back onto the motherboard

We also delid both the RSC and CELL to replace the thermal paste underneath

Replacing the thermal paste above and below the IHS(integrated heat spreader) ensures the condole runs as cool and quiet as possible.
Contact us if you have any enquiries or require a repair.
We also downgrade these PS3’s to 3.55FW ready to jailbreak.
This site was… how do I say it? Relevant!! Finally I have found something which helped me. Appreciate it!
