I had a PS3 60GB Backwards Compatible PS3 come through today with the YLOD. Once I opened the console and had a look it was very obvious that the CELL and the RSX had been attacked in a backyard rage. Way too much heat had been applied and most likely from a heat gun/paint srtipper. The overheating causes death for the RSX itself and then also weakens the adhesion on the tiny pads and they start to lift/fall off without any or too much help and it also popcorned the underside of the BGa rendering it useless. You can see the popcorning in the second pic and the missing pads in the first pic. They are the brown spots with no shiny pad in place.
